Oh no. What have I done? Will I end up regretting this decision? Will it go right up there with letting them watch The Simpsons for the first time, or bringing a game system into the house?
Yep, this morning I"m thinking...what have I done. (and by now, you too are saying, cough it up Chicky, tell us what mommy faux pas you committed)...
I let the boys have a friend spend the night! Yes, really...me Ms. "I'm not ready for sleepovers".
The verdict? Well, so far, it seems to be a normal Saturday morning here in the House of Chang. Except instead of 2 things sitting around in their boxers/briefs, I've got a 3rd one (with blond hair and freckles mind you). Everyone got at least 9 hours of sleep and nobody woke up during the night begging to go home.
I think for now, it is a thumbs up experience (but this doesn't mean I'm ready to let them sleep over...that is a whole different set of mommy anxieties that I'm not ready to tackle).
But then again...I wasn't too worried that first time we let Bart, Lisa and Maggie join our cozy family...

oh my gosh, they'll be dating and driving cars next time you turn around!
Welcome to the other side of your child's life! Good to hear that your first experience with this new lifestyle was indeed a positive one. I'm sure your things had a great time and are glad for the opportunity to do things that other kids their age do.
I must say though that you are far braver than us in that you experimented with this new life during the school year. We have been allowing sleep overs with a friend for about 2 years now but have limited them to vacation periods only.
Congratulations on the big step!
Bart, Lisa, and Maggie are also visitors in our home. Husband thinks they are the epitome of funny, and since they are yellow he is sure that our kids will understand that the Simpsons behavior is not really "normal" kid behavior. (I suppose we could threaten them that they'll turn yellow if they make prank phone calls?)
The Things aren't babies anymore! I have to say, you're handling it quite well!
Oh my - you've definitely crossed over to the dark side. Watch out because it will be a request that happens more and more frequently. I think it was asked here a MINIMUM of 3 times a week all summer.
But the benefit of YOUR KIDS sleeping somewhere? Free babysitting. :D
Oh, good point about the free babysitting, kaesmom! I will console myself with that thought when my girls are ready for lots of summer sleepovers.
