Right Now: October/November Recap

Right Now

I'm listening  to office chatter about weather.    Wait a minute, that's what was going on last couple of times I updated my blog.   What a weird fall we've had this year- already scoring 2 snow days, a couple delayed starts and an early dismissal.   But alas, today's chatter is just about the cold drizzle that arrived earlier than the forecasted late afternoon.

I'm also listening to my guilty conscience- I should update my blog as the days start to become a blur and I like to use these recaps as a way to remind myself what I've done this past month.

For example, I've already forgotten that in the past month

  • I attended our annual school nurse convention where I left feeling professionally renewed, knowing I'm working in an area that is the right fit for me.   And this year, Hubby joined me as the hotel was covered by my employer- but we skipped the banquet and instead found ourselves some really good adult beverages!

  • I resigned from my position on our community HOA board.   It wasn't fun any more and it was becoming personal in terms of the frustrations I was experiencing.   Hubby was right when he said "You are just inviting trouble by serving on the board".   I don't mind helping decorate the club house, but no career in politics for me, thank you very much.
  • I made a quick escape to the mountains where I left feeling energized and ready to enjoy the holiday season.  Nothing like a little mountain fresh air to restore a sense of peace to one's heart.

I'm loving that we've made it to December without a lot of fuss and surplus drama.

Thanksgiving was a quiet affair- with Thing 2 coming home for dinner and taking on the task of carving up the 20# bird (note to self- my oven isn't really big enough to properly cook something that large- next year, go smaller).   I invited a couple friends from work which added to the festive fun of the day, and made the cooking-cleaning effort seem worthwhile.

The day after Thanksgiving, we joined our good friends the Lishs for lunch.   I love seeing Big V, Mr. E and especially Allie doing so well- as she really struggled after her mom passed away.

I'm feeling the need to wrap this up.   My lunch break is just about over and I should at least pretend do some work this afternoon.   I should also work on making my list, checking it twice- as I'm playing hostess to my dad and friends for a mini-reunion of sorts...stay tuned for that update hopefully before year's end!

Until next time...find some joy in life's journey!
